Hey, all you out there. I’m really busy with school and my private life etc. That’s why this post is up now, even though the 21st National Selection Conference Switzerland in Lausanne took place two weeks ago from the 8th until the 12th of September. Oh, let me tell you, it was soooo much fun!
To give you a little idea what the NSC is about I’ll interduce you to EYP. The EYP, or the European Youth Parliament, is an organization that provides so many possibilities to young people. It gives the opportunity to engage in politics, share opinions with others, make new friends, develop English skills as well as learning to be comfortable in front of a bigger audience and deliver good speeches.
There are three types of sessions in the EYP. The Regional Sessions (RS), the National Session resp. the National Selection Conference (NSC) and the International Sessions (IS). The Regional Sessions are in first place, therefore, to get to know how EYP works. The National Selection Conference is more serious as you can be selected to go to sessions in other countries when you participate well enough.
But anyway let’s get to the fun part! I don’t really know where to start and I also won’t tell everything because that would be way too much, haha. A really cool thing about EYP is that they always invite guests to hold speeches and tell something about what they are doing and how this can affect the future. These speeches or presentations are always so interesting and motivating. This time, for example, they invited Patrick Aebischer who was the president of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne until last year and Raphaël Domjan, who traveled around the world with a ship only using the energy from solar panels. His new project is SolarStratos which is to fly around in space just by using solar energy. He said something really nice and inspiring about this: “The sky is not the limit, the fuel is the limit.” By the way, he is a fellow blogger, haha. He writes his entries about his projects and much more in French on his blog.
And I had so much luck with my committee! Even tho our resolution didn’t pass I had the best committee ever – #bestbanterchetever!;-) Thank you! We had so much fun during team building, finding IC’s and OC’s, presenting our resolution, having the committee dinner.
Thank you so much to all that made this session possible. Thank you to all the fellow delegate, of which many became my new friends, thank you to all the chairpersons, thank you to all the organizers, thank you to all the journals who made it possible to keep so many cool memories of this session. Just a huge thank you to all of you, who were a part of the 21st NSC in Lausanne!<3
I definitely came home happy, sad that it was over and excited for the future. With so many new friends, so many memories of moments full of laughter and hard work, many beautiful pictures of the session and Lausanne, with a lot of gratitude that this has happened and with the amazing opportunity to go to Brussels in November to participate in a RS there.
EYP always fulfills its motto! “Building skills, confidence and new friendships!” If it fulfills its second motto lies in the future: “Build
If you want to know about the practical part and you are interested in more facts about how EYP works I might do another post on this.;-)
The pictures, except for the last one, are all taken by wonderful Matas. Great pictures – great person.
